The Children's Hospice SW provides relief hospice care for life limited children and is dedicated to making the most of their short and precious lives. Support, care, friendship and a sense of community for these children and their families is provided at Little Bridge House, North Devon and Charlton Farm, North Somerset . Only 5% of the daily running cost is met from Public Funds and the Hospice needs to raise £6,000,000 every year to meet these costs.
The purpose of IT'S CHILDSPLAY is to raise funds for the Children's Hospice SW and each entrant has to be sponsored for a minimum of £10.
This Taunton Vale Event will be one of seven being held at different locations throughout Somerset on the same day and at the same time. Each event is being promoted by local Rotary Clubs.
The event is open to all: individuals, families, clubs, pub groups, church groups, groups of staff from local businesses. The only condition of entry is that each individual promises to provide sponsorship of a minimum of £10.
Anyone can walk, run or ride – on foot, by bicycle, in a wheelchair to the finish in Vivary Park .
The distance walked, run or ridden – 100 yards, a mile, two, three or more - is at the choice of the individual. Any distance is acceptable as long as it's sponsored.
Entrants can pre-register by post, e-mail - childsplay@colourtone.co.uk, on line - at the website www.tauntonvalerotary.org , or in person at a pre-registration point. Each entrant, having promised a minimum sponsorship of £10 and registered by Saturday 26 April, will receive a free It's ChildsPlay T-shirt to be worn to the event.
As many entrants as possible should wear their T-shirt on the day thereby creating as much publicity for the event and the Hospice as possible.
There will be five designated starting points where entrants can register on the day. However entrants do not have to use a designated starting point, they can start from anywhere as long as they finish at Vivary Park , where there will be registration facilities. All they need is their sponsorship.
If possible, entrants are encouraged to bring their sponsorship monies with them on the day, cheques should be made payable to It's Childsplay . These monies will be collected at the designated starting points or at Vivary Park . There will be a facility at Vivary Park for cheques to be handed over at the Hospice Stand with publicity photographs.
The finish at Vivary Park will be open between 1pm and 5pm and registration facilities will be available during that time. During that time the Inner Wheel Club will be offering light refreshments in aid of the Hospice.
The Bandstand at Vivary Park will be utilised and a local College Swing Band will provide background entertainment throughout the afternoon.
All entrants will be responsible for their own transport requirements at the end of the afternoon.
For those entrants collecting their sponsorship after the event, cheques
should be made payable to
