The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the charity"Just a drop" in order to provide a well for an Ethiopian or South American village which has never had a clean water supply.
Colonel Blashford-Snell will be describing his epic adventures over a decade in South America , named "Kota Mama" - In search of Lost Civilizations. These adventures have included navigating the Amazon in purpose made reed boats (following up on Thor Heyerdahl's theory that Ancient South American peoples could have been trading with Africa 1,000 years BC) surveying a meteorite crater with the help of paramotors, transporting a pedal organ from Dorset to the Ojaki tribe and the rediscovery of a 2 nosed dog, let alone the fascinating and essential community aid and educational work which Colonel Blashford-Snell and his teams of volunteers have undertaken.

Ironman Half Triathlon at Wimbleball Lake on Sunday 15th June. Taunton Vale Rotarians and wives manned a feed station for the 56Km run from 7.30am to 2.30pm in sun/cloud and heavy showers. Richard and Margaret Austin, David and Jan Stearn, Derek and Anne Bartaby, Andrew Janes and David Janes handed out drinks and bananas to the 1038 runners who ran three laps of the course which entailed crossing and re-crossing the dam
